Old News & Notices

The Winter League commenced on Monday 12 September 2011

We welcome a new team of young players: 'Yager Bombers' to be led by Kelly Surman.   Sadly we bid farewell to the Pensioners who have been playing in our league since 1986.

See Winter League fixtures for further details.

Good luck to all teams!

Plans for a year at a time as they become available can be found in Diary Dates

Congratulations to ...

A-Bombs

... winners of the Summer League Final Game by beating Over the Odds 504-489 on Thursday 18 August 2011

Beards and Brazilians were presented with the Wooden Spoon.

On the same night the Front-Pin game for the John Christie Chairman's Cup was won 341-335 by the Muffin Men, champions of the Winter League, who beat A-Bombs, winners of the President's Shield.

Welcome to our new-look website
 - ready for the 2011 season!

The website will work much as the old site except the full list of pages has moved from the home page to a Table of Contents page.  You can easily go to the Contents by clicking on the picture of The 9 Pins you see at the top of every page.  The links to 'Home' will take you to the home page.

For the best experience you are advised to use a modern browser capable of handing HTML5; such as Firefox 4 or Internet Explorer 9 (but you will need Vista or Windows 7 to run IE9).  These and other browsers are free to download.  Even so the site should work well enough in IE4 or later.

News about the Skittles Club will appear in the right-hand column of the home page.  The left-hand column will be fairly static.

At the AGM held on 24 May 2011 it was resolved to continue playing the Winter League with teams of 12 players.  This was welcomed by some teams and will be a disappointment for others.  However, we formalised the arrangement whereby teams could co-opt 3 available individuals, eg the bar staff, at any one game.

We welcomed Pett Wilsdon as Treasurer on the Committee.

See Minutes of AGM 2011.

28 December 2006

The Skittles Club Committee has identified a couple of issues requiring co-operation by teams:

LATE-RUNNING GAMES

Some games are going on inordinately long. To speed up games, two factors are being addressed:

Stickers – will be reminded to return the balls before setting the pins;
Players – are to be required to be ready to bowl as the sticker finishes re-setting.

In addition, following complaints from parents about the lateness some of their youngsters go home, no sticker will be obliged to stay after 10:15pm.

ALLEY FEES
The full fee is not always being provided with the score-card. To enable the Treasurer to keep a correct tally, envelopes are to be provided into which the scorecard and payment are to be sealed.
